The Gym Group Sports Day at Merchant Square

Eggs and spoons at the ready as The Gym Group are hosting a classic school sports day event (with some tweaks!) on Thursday 12 May to celebrate their arrival in Paddington’s Merchant Square this summer. The day is an opportunity to gather your team mates, motivate one another and have fun with nostalgic schoolyard games.

Teams of four can sign up here for free to take part in a series of fun races for a chance to win some fantastic prizes:

Race 1: Sack Race Revamp. Each team member will jump squat to the finish line and back feeling the burn with a resistance band around their thighs. The first team to complete will win.

Race 2: Egg and Spoon Race with a Twist. Race to the finish line and back with a spoon and ping pong ball. If the ball drops, there’ll be a penalty of five burpees. The first team to have all members cross the finish line wins!

Race 3: Fill the Basket. It’s a race against the clock as your team will have 30 seconds to collect as many balls as possible to put in your basket. There will be three 30 second rounds, and the team with the most balls in their basket wins.

Race 4: Fireman’s lift. Carry a heavy sandbag to the to the end of line and back to your team mates for the next member to go. Once your entire team has done this you’ll all run to the finish line. First over the line wins.

Each contestant will receive a bottle of water and a protein bar, and fruit will be available throughout the event. The event will take place on the lawn area in front of the Merchant Square cinema screen. Please arrive 15 minutes before your competition time to sign in and get warmed up.
