Proud to be a Westminster Lion
The Paddington Partnership is delighted to announce that it has been recognised by Westminster City Council as a Westminster Lion. The Partnership has also been shortlisted for a Westminster Lion Award, in recognition of its contribution to Westminster’s ethical, environmental and community priorities.
The Westminster Lion accreditation scheme was launched in November 2017, to encourage the 54,000 businesses located in Westminster to focus their CSR efforts on the local area and to reward those that make a commitment to supporting the community.
In the initial round of applications, 31 businesses were awarded Westminster Lion status. The accredited businesses include construction firms, Business Improvement Districts, academic institutions, retailers and hotels.
Nominees had to provide evidence of their commitment to the council’s City for All vision; through improving the quality of the environment, helping to create thriving neighbourhoods and providing opportunities for local residents.
The Paddington Partnership's commitment to the Westminster community continues, with a busy few months ahead. In the first week of September, 125 corporate volunteers will lend their muscle power and energy to schools and community centres through the Paddington Partnership Community Programme. The volunteers will be painting classrooms, building raised beds and cleaning ponds before the start of term.
There are 16 new reading and maths mentors from Marks & Spencer, Visa, Equinor and Kingfisher who will begin volunteering in Paddington primary schools. In collaboration with local charities, the Partnership is planning a programme of events for Silver Sunday in October. This includes free GoBoat London trips for over 70 elderly residents hosted by corporate volunteer boat captains, a guided tour of Hyde Park on board Liberty Drive buggies, a series of IT workshops and a harvest collection for North Paddington Food Bank.
If you live or work locally and would like to learn more about the work of The Paddington Partnership, please do not hesitate to get in touch. The Community Programme is a paid for service. Organisations can subscribe on an annual or pay-as-you-go basis. We would love to talk to you about what we do and how we could work with you.
