Many Hands Make Light Work at King Solomon Academy
Colleagues from three Paddington companies joined forces on Friday 9 August to help King Solomon Academy prepare for the start of term.
The volunteers from Equinor, Vodafone and Heathrow Express were set to work redecorating Key Stage 4 classrooms. Over the course of the day, the team - most of whom were new to decorating, painted 7 classrooms, a corridor and removed and put up new classroom displays; all whilst getting to know each other.
“My team really enjoyed the volunteering day organised by The Paddington Partnership. It was a great opportunity to do something good for our local community and get to know one another better outside the office. As an added benefit, it enabled us to work with neighbouring businesses whom we would not have had the chance to meet otherwise.” Abby Thomas, Global Head of Customer Operations, Vodafone.
This shared volunteer day built on the tasks completed two weeks previously by teams from Marks & Spencer’s International Department; who had tackled the changing rooms and Key Stage 3 classrooms and corridors.
Summer holidays always present an opportunity for schools to tick tasks off the ‘to do’ list, and this summer is busier than ever at King Solomon, as the school prepares to merge with ARK Paddington Green Primary Academy. The two schools have been working collaboratively for the past couple of years, but from September, all the primary school aged children will be taught at the Paddington Green site; requiring the relocation of furniture, resources and teachers.
There are still a few weeks of summer to go and plenty more jobs to be done, so if you would like to lend a hand, please contact our Community Programme Manager, Emily.
