Paddington Comes Home

A nice surprise awaits passengers wanting to rest their weary legs on Platform 1 of Paddington Station.

The Paddington Bear Book Bench, which was part of the National Literacy Trust’s Books About Town trail in London between July and September 2014, is on loan to Paddington Station from its new owner Alan Daly.

Designed by artist Michelle Heron the Paddington Book Bench formed one of 50 benches shaped like an open book, forming a sculpture trail organised by Wild in Art. The benches were auctioned in September to raise funds for the National Literacy Trust.

The bench formed part of the Riverside Trail originally, but thanks to proud new owner Alan Daly’s generosity, passengers and visitors to Paddington station can now enjoy the Paddington Book Bench in Paddington.
