NHS Birthday bash calls for volunteer boat captains
We’re calling on our Paddington Partnership subscriber companies to take to the water as we help the NHS turn 70 in style with Birthday boat trips for St Mary's hospital staff and volunteers here in Paddington Basin.
In partnership with the Imperial Health Charity, we're recruiting 12 volunteer Boat Captains and trusty Captain’s Mates who between them will host 70 members of NHS staff and volunteers from St Mary’s Hospital on board GoBoats.
GoBoat London, the only self-drive powered boat hire company in central London, are making three of their fleet available on Monday 2 July for 40-minute boat trips. These thank you trips will kickstart a week of Birthday celebrations.
You’ll take your guests on a tour of the Little Venice and the Grand Union canal. Chat to your passengers about their experiences of life on the wards at St Mary’s, enjoy wildlife watching and soak up the peace and tranquillity as you cruise along.
Hosts are encouraged to provide their guests with cake whilst on board – it is a Birthday after all. There are more than 250 dedicated NHS charities that fundraise on behalf of hospitals across the country and they are joining together to organise the 'Big 7Tea' to mark the occasion. Hospitals, offices, schools and groups of friends and family are being encouraged to hold tea parties to celebrate the NHS and we want our Birthday boat trips to be part of the action.
Tablecloths, bunting and captains hats will be provided and you’ll receive a full briefing from the GoBoat London crew on how to keep you and your guests safe before you set sail.
