MBS Pupils add ‘Pop’ of Purple to Paddington
Pupils from Marylebone Boys’ School helped mark a moment in history on Monday 23 May when their artwork adorned Paddington Station ahead of the opening of the Elizabeth Line.
The school was one of nine selected to decorate the new Crossrail stations and celebrate the long-awaited inaugural journeys.
The main art installations were created by Ousainou Janneh – an alumnus of the school who is now studying Railway Engineering at the University of East London. Ten Year 7 pupils were also involved in creating celebratory bunting depicting Elizabeth Line train carriages, using different techniques and materials.
Marylebone Boys’ School is located in the heart of Paddington Basin and since opening its doors here in September 2018 has been a fantastic charity partner to the Community Programme; with corporate volunteers visiting to deliver career workshops, mock interviews and run a successful science club. Monday's art installation is another example of the school capitalising on its location in the heart of Paddington to play an active role in the community and offer its students unique, truly memorable opportunities.
