Crossrail Paddington Station public realm works commence

Crossrail will be working around Bishop’s Bridge Road, Eastbourne Terrace and Praed Street to create vehicle and pedestrian access to the new Crossrail Paddington station.
The main works at the Praed Street junction are as follows:
- Alterations to existing footways including new crossing points and road kerb alignment.
- Installation of a new exiting facility onto Praed Street from the Crossrail station for maintenance vehicles and retail deliveries.
- Installation of new footway paving arrangements for pedestrian access into the Crossrail station.
- Surfacing works to the roadways including line painting and anti-skid application.
Working hours will be 08:00 –18:00 Monday to Friday, with works also taking place between 08:00 and 13:00 on Saturdays.
Works are planned to start in September 2019 and will be co-ordinated with works relating to the Paddington Square scheme. Praed Street southbound will be closed between London Street and Spring Street and a signed one-way system will be in place. There will be some impact on pedestrian routes, bus diversions and signs will be in place.
At the Bishop's Bridge Road junction with Eastbourne Terrace the main works include:
- Alterations to existing footways including new crossing points and kerb alignment.
- Installation of a new exit onto Bishop’s Bridge Road from the Crossrail station for maintenance vehicles and retail deliveries.
- Installation of new footpath arrangements for public access into the Crossrail station.
- Surfacing works to the roadway including line painting and anti-skid treatment.
Working hours will be 08:00 - 18:00 Monday–Friday and 08:00 - 13:00 on Saturdays.
Works are planned to start early July 2019. Traffic management and pedestrian diversions will be in place.
Subject to approval by Westminster City Council and London Buses, Eastbourne Terrace will be closed overnight on Tuesdays and Thursdays during August and September.
